Tunefly’s Advent Calendar puts a new spin on ‘Jingle Bell Rock’

For everyone in Northeastern Pennsylvania “Rocking around the Christmas Tree” this holiday season, Tunefly has some local flavor to offer.

The music app designed to promote local talent is holding a contest for the best original or classic Christmas song. The first 25 entries are added to an “Advent Calendar” playlist for listeners to enjoy and vote on their favorites. Each entry also gets a day as the featured song on the app’s main page, as well as a preview posted to the Tunefly Facebook page to help promote their music.

The contest is primarily for fun, and is a great way for participants to draw more eyes and ears to their music. This is the second competition that Tunefly has put on, and plans to do a monthly competition going forward.

Described by its team of developers as “Instagram for Music”, Tunefly is designed to promote musical acts and give hobbyists a platform to record and distribute their music in the region. Along with posting original songs and covers, artists can post photos “from the studio to the stage” directly from the app to share with their followers. This feature is designed to make Tunefly more of a social media experience than a streaming app like Spotify or Soundcloud, and helps acts interact directly with their fan base.

“Tunefly is designed to help people who are just starting out and get their names out there. Established artists have the resources to promote themselves, where people who are just starting out don’t have a promotions team,” said Tunefly CEO Sam O’Connell. “We want to shine the light on local talent, and help people discover what’s out there.”

Tunefly is available via the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store.
